Norfolk and Western 2050 by markkarvon Norfolk and Western 2050 by markkarvon
The Norfolk & Western #2050 is an articulated locomotive with a wheel arrangement of 2-8-8-2. This behemoth is one of Norfolk & Western's Class Y3a Mallets. The locomotive is essentially two steam engines mounted under one massive boiler. This big girl was used for heavy freight and her power is only recently being equaled by the latest diesels coming from GE and EMD. The Norfolk & Western designed and built it's own locomotives in it's own shops and their steam locomotives of the N&W have a reputation for being the best of the best - rightly so! Our print shows one of their magnificent locomotives ready to haul that next heavy tonnage coal drag over the Blue Ridge Mountains!

It's so good drawed that we could confuse it with a B&W photo. ;)

The only pity is that the picture is a bit small. Should be really nice if you could upload it in a bigger size. The maximum you can, So I could put it as my desktop picture. :D

I'm looking for pics of such monsters and I came here by searching for the N&W 2050. ^^

I'm happy you like it. Sorry, I do not publish anything but low res images and not larger than 800 pixels wide on the internet. It helps deter theft.

I love this and your other drawings of beautiful steam locomotives. They N&W Ys are my favorite steamers.

Do you have any of O. Winston Link's work? He has some beautiful pics of these fine locos.
