Artist's Comments

After 30 years of service, the Los Angeles Class submarine is still a mainstay of America's fast attack submarine fleet. My depiction is one of the earlier boats with the diving planes on the sail. Later improved boats in the class had the forward diving planes on the hull. The scene shows the sub passing over the drop-off of the continental shelf and headed for deep water.

Original painting is size is 25" x 36".

Excellent work.

Cost may result in this class remaining the mainstay in the fleet even longer than the Navy planned.

Very well done, Mark!

I like how you portrayed the continental shelf below the submarine. I've always gotten frightened of deep water. Your details of the bottom just gave me that chilling feeling.

Keep up the good work!

That's beautiful. It reminds me of my first boat, the USS Jacksonville. I always enjoyed standing on the sail while surfaced heading into port.

Good gosh man! You've outdone yourself. That water is crazy with realism. Nice work Mark.
