The tugboat Weser is powered by a Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) [link] making it a true water tractor. Equipped with such a drive, Weser is highly maneuverable and well suited for ship handling. The tug is equipped with 2 diesel engines which produce a combined rating of about 6,700 HP and it is able to exert 71 tons of bollard pull. Weser is an ocean going vessel and, in addition to harbor work, she is well equipped for deep sea towage, offshore services and salvage operations. Owned and operated by Unterweser Reederei GmbH (URAG) of Bremen, the tug operates primarily out of the port of Bremerhaven. |
